APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE REQUEST OF DIRECT FUNDING FROM THE UNITED STATES SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY AND PROVIDING FOR AN APPROPRIATION TO THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT IN FISCAL YEAR 2020 AND 2021.
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque, submitted a request for direct payment of federal funds as established in Section 5001, Title V of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act); and
WHEREAS, the CARES Act distributes direct payment of funds to eligible entities and provides a State minimum payment of $1,250,000,000; and
WHEREAS, per the 2010 United States census, the City of Albuquerque is the most populous city in New Mexico with over 545,000 residents and qualifies as an eligible local government under Section 5001, Title V of the CARES Act; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque has submitted the certification required and has requested direct payment for the estimated minimum eligibility amount per the CARES Act of $150,000,000; and
WHEREAS, the funding will be used to cover costs incurred due to the public health emergency with respect to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 for the period beginning March 1, 2020 through December 30, 2020; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque desires to accept these funds, which do not require a cash match.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
