Approving And Authorizing The Acceptance Of Grant Funds From The New Mexico State Highway And Transportation Department And Providing An Appropriation To The Parks And Recreation Department In Fiscal Year 2023 (Benton, by request)

WHEREAS, one of the City's goals is to promote youth safety through the Albuquerque Metropolitan Planning Area's (AMPA)-Wide Youth Bicycle/Pedestrian Safety Education Program, which includes education on multi-modal transportation and proper use of infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, the Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) is a federal-aid cost reimbursement program that provides federal funding for programs and projects defined as transportation alternatives; and
WHEREAS, the New Mexico Department of Transportation's Stewardship and Oversight agreement with the Federal Highway Administration, New Mexico Division, is responsible for implementing the TAP in New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, grant funds in the amount of $119,777 are available for this purpose for fiscal year 2023 from the New Mexico Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque is desirous of accepting these funds which require a city cash match of $20,411 and $8,691.66 in indirect costs to support this project and which is available in the General Fund (110) for transfer to the Operating Grants Fund (265).
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
SECTION 1. That the Transportation Alternative Program Grant for an AMPA-Wide Youth Bicycle/Pedestrian Safety Education Program is hereby approved, and its acceptance and filing with the appropriate official or office is in all respects approved.
