ACCEPTING AN AWARD FROM BERNALILLO COUNTY TO INCREASE EMERGENCY SHELTER BEDS FOR FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS IN ALBUQUERQUE AND PROVIDING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY AND COMMUNITY SERVICES, BEGINNING IN FISCAL YEAR 2023.
WHEREAS, the City and County desire to work together to increase emergency shelter beds for families with children experiencing homelessness; and
WHEREAS, the City and County executed an Intergovernmental Agreement; in which the County agrees to pay the City Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500,000.00), which amount will be used for the renovation of a facility to provide emergency shelter services for families with children; and
WHEREAS, the City agrees to provide matching funds in the amount of Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500,000.00) for the renovation of a facility to provide emergency shelter for families with children; and
WHEREAS, City Resolution R-22-24 (Enactment No. R-2022-036) appropriated $500,000 in City General Funds to the Department of Family and Community Services (DFCS) to Family Promise, to be used for the renovation of a facility to provide emergency shelter services for families with children.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1. That the $500,000 award from Bernalillo County is hereby approved.
