APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF GRANT APPLICATION AND ACCEPTANCE OF POTENTIAL GRANT AWARDS FROM THE FEDERAL HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT (HHS) AND PROVIDING FOR AN APPROPRIATION TO THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT FOR FISCAL YEARS 2022 and 2023.
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the City of Albuquerque is to support the equitable distribution of health education and vaccines in Albuquerque; and
WHEREAS, the Health and Human Services Department has made available to cities grants to support the equitable distribution of health education and vaccines; and
WHEREAS, in order to meet the application deadline imposed by the federal government, the City submitted an application to HHS on April 20; and
WHEREAS, potential grant funds in the approximate amount of $4,000,000 will be used to increase health education and vaccination; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque desires to appropriate these funds, if awarded, to the Office of Equity and Inclusion in the Legal Department to achieve the grant goals; and
WHEREAS, the grant funding, if awarded, would be dispersed in fiscal years 2022 and 2021 and requires no local match.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1. That the grant application as submitted is hereby approved, and its acceptance and filing with appropriate official or office is in all respects approved.
Section 2. That upon award, funds in the amount of $4,000,000 are hereby appropriated to the Office of Equity and Inclusion in the Legal Department Operating Grant...
