ADOPTING THE
JUAN TABO CONNECTIVITY STUDY, MAKING THE RECOMMENDATIONS WITHIN THE STUDY POLICY PRIORITIES FOR
JUAN TABO BOULEVARD IN THE VICINITY OF EUBANK BOULEVARD, SOUTHERN BOULEVARD AND THE TIJERAS ARROYO.
WHEREAS,
Juan Tabo Boulevard ("
Juan Tabo") connects many residential areas with the larger roadway network; and
WHEREAS, there are no direct east-west connections south of Southern Boulevard to Eubank Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, Eubank Boulevard provides access to many major employers located at Kirtland Airforce Base, Sandia National Laboratories, and Sandia Science and Tech Park; and
WHEREAS, the lack of connectivity results in heavy cut through traffic for some residential neighborhoods and puts pressure on the main intersections; and
WHEREAS, there are significant physical barriers to creating an additional east- west connection; and
WHEREAS,
Juan Tabo Connectivity Study considered five alternatives, plus a No-Build Alternative; and
WHEREAS, the study held two public meetings and were in contact with the following stakeholders: Kirtland Air Force Base, Sandia National Laboratories, Sandia Science and Tech Park, Albuquerque Public Schools, State Land Office, Eastside Developers, Inc., Four Hills Community LLC, South Pointe Village MHC Inc., Albuquerque Metropolitan Flood Control Authority (AMAFCA), City of Albuquerque Open Space, Sage Land Consultants, Mid-Region Council of Governments, Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM); and
