Amending The Adopted Capital Implementation Program Of The City Of Albuquerque By Supplementing Current Appropriations For The Arenal/Crestview Bluff Open Space Land Acquisition (Pe?a)

WHEREAS, Ordinance C/S(3) O-15-48 amended the Open Space Trust Fund and Land Administration Ordinance such that "up to 90% of the annual earnings generated by investments may be used for the acquisition of land designated for Major Public Open Space or for public easement or rights by the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Comprehensive Plan or other adopted city plans..."; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance O-16-9 requires a that two percent of the total General Obligation (GO) Bond program be set aside for the "acquisition of lands identified for Open Space Land and capital restoration of Open Space." for the 2017 through 2035 GO Bond cycles; and
WHEREAS, lands in the Arenal/Crestview Bluff area are currently available for purchase and may potentially be sold to private residential developers; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to acquire Arenal/Crestview Bluff area lands to be maintained as a public open space area in lieu of private development; and
WHEREAS, sufficient unencumbered balances exist for appropriation to the Arenal/Crestview Bluff Open Space project for land acquisition, to supplement existing funds available for the project.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1. That the following appropriations are hereby adjusted and made to the specific funds and projects as indicated.
