ADJUSTING DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY AND COMMUNITY SERVICES FISCAL YEAR 2017 CITY HOUSING FUND APPROPRIATIONS TO PROVIDE FOR THE ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY TO BE USED FOR AN AFFORDABLE HOUSING, TRANSITIONAL HOUSING AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES PROJECT IN COLLABORATION WITH BERNALILLO COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the City's goal is that people of all ages have the opportunity to participate in the community and economy, and are well sheltered, safe, healthy and educated; and
WHEREAS, the City is working in collaboration with Bernalillo County through the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Government Commission's
Behavioral Health Initiative (BHI) to identify and implement community programs to increase behavioral health and transitional affordable housing services to those in need, including persons suffering from homelessness; and
WHEREAS, the BHI has identified the need for a single-site behavioral health services center with supportive transitional affordable housing for those suffering from behavioral health issues and in need of shelter; and
WHEREAS, on October 17, 2016 the City Council approved Resolution R-
16-97, which appropriated $2 million of available fund balance in the City
Housing Fund (240) for general affordable housing projects; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to designate the appropriated funds for a single-site behavioral health services center with associated supportive and transitional affordable housing for those suffering from behavioral health issues and wh...
