APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A GRANT APPLICATION FOR BUS STOP FACILITIES IMPROVEMENTS WITH THE FEDERAL TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION (FTA) OF THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND PROVIDING FOR AN APPROPRIATION TO THE TRANSIT DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds in the amount of $300,000 are available from the U.S. Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, the Environmental Protection Agency has classified the City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County as a “maintenance area” for carbon monoxide; and
WHEREAS, the Bus Stop Facilities Project is one of the projects identified in the 2012-2015 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) that will ultimately provide another type of transit service within the Albuquerque Urbanized Area; and
WHEREAS, the encouragement of the use of alternative transportation to improve air quality and decrease traffic congestion has been identified as a program strategy related to Goal 3 on Public Infrastructure of the City’s Five-Year Goals Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to accept these funds which requires a cash match in the amount of $51,124 from Transit Capital Implementation Program Fund 305 which includes the City’s portion of Indirect Overhead (IDOH).
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1. That the attached application to aid for financing of public transportation projects pursuant to 49 U.S.C., 5307 with the Federal Transit Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation in the amount of $300,000 is hereby approved, and its acceptance and filing with the appropriate official or office is in all respects approved.
Section 2. That upon award, funds in the amount of $351,124 consisting of $300,000 in federal funds from the Federal Transit Administration which include $27,272 for IDOH, and $51,124 from the Transit Capital Implementation Program fund 305 which includes $4,648 for IDOH is hereby appropriated to the Transit Department in the Transit Capital Grants 665 for Fiscal Year 2016.
