Mr. Gavin Mitchell is a student at the Albuquerque Academy in City Council District 4. He participates in Model UN, New Mexico Youth and Government (YAG), and is a member of his school's Student Senate. He was elected Commissioner of Public Lands for the 2025 YAG conference. Gavin has a broad interest in sustainability and the intersection of public policy and environmental science, engaging with STEM through activities like math tutoring and Science Bowl. He is a 13th generation New Mexican and is participating in the 2024 Acequia Culture Youth Leadership Institute. Gavin plays violin and viola in his school's orchestra and Mariachi band, and he takes weekly harpsichord lessons. At home, he loves to cook and bake, receiving two blue ribbons at the 2023 NM State Fair youth baking competition. He also competes in cross country and loves running in Albuquerque's many open spaces. |
