APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A GRANT APPLICATION FROM THE PETSMART CHARITIES AND PROVIDING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE ANIMAL WELFARE DEPARTMENT IN FISCAL YEAR 2026/2027.
WHEREAS, the PetSmart Charities wishes to grant the City of Albuquerque $20,000 to facilitate more adoption preparation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department will utilize grant funds to support activities related to preparing animals for adoption through the PetSmart Charities adoption program. Grant funds to be used for expenses related to, but not limited to veterinary care, staffing, supplies, marketing and technology; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department desires to accept these funds, which require no City match or indirect overhead to support this project.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1. That the attached application for PetSmart Charities for the amount of $20,000 is hereby approved, and its acceptance and filing with the appropriate official or office is and in all respects approved.
Section 2. That upon approval, funds in the amount of twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) are hereby appropriated to the Animal Welfare Department to facilitate multiple efforts to prepare pets for adoption through offsite events in the Operating Grant Fund (265) for Fiscal Year 2026/2027.
