Matthew Munoz worked as the Associate Director for Government Relations at the University of New Mexico. As a registered lobbyist, he supported all of the University's efforts at a municipal, county, and state level. Matthew oversaw the university's $50 million state funded Research and Public Service Projects on an annual basis, and also coordinates the capital outlay process at the state capital for the University. Matthew has experience in state and federal legislation, state budget and capital outlay, and executive rule making processes.  Prior to working at the University of New Mexico, Matthew had numerous work experiences, from construction to retail and to legal, until enrolling on at UNM in 2008. Once enrolled, Matthew discovered his love for politics and interned with United States Congressman Harry Teague in Washington D.C. After returning to New Mexico, he worked for Congressman Teague full time while also being a full-time student.  Matthew holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of New Mexico, is a board member of the national Higher Education State Government Relations Conference, and an Honorary Commander at Kirtland Airforce Base.

 

A resident of Council District 2, Mr. Munoz will move seats from an At-Large representative to the Ladera Men's representative on the board; his first new term will expire on December 31, 2025.
