Pursuant to the provisions of ?9-4-1-5 of the Police Oversight Ordinance, City Council staff shall submit recommendations for appointments to the Civilian Police Oversight Advisory Board. City Council staff recommends the appointment of Ms. Gail Oliver to the Civilian Police Oversight Advisory Board

If appointed, Ms. Oliver would be one of the initial appointments to the revamped Civilian Police Oversight Advisory Board. Ms. Oliver's first three-year term will expire February 2, 2026.
Ms. Oliver, a retired Board member and chairman of Gordon Bernell Charter School at the Albuquerque Metropolitan Detention Center and a Board Member of Peanut Butter and Jelly Family Services, offers a distinctive perspective on the significance of impartiality. Drawing from her experience in the Corrections Department, she underscores the recognition of multiple sides to every story and the capacity to perceive situations from different angles.
