Y?'?t'??h! I'm Chas Laila Tso, an Indigenous Trans Woman from the Din? (Navajo) Tribe. My pronouns are She/Her/Hers, and I belong to the Towering House People and Bitter Water People clans. With roots in the Salt People and Sage Brush Hill People clans, I'm deeply connected to my heritage.
As a dedicated advocate in the Trans Native community, I focus on housing initiatives for unsheltered Native individuals and strive for policy changes to enhance fairness within the Native community. Professionally, I've undergone extensive training to effectively support Native families in need, particularly in Albuquerque, where there's a pressing need for policy reform.
As board chair for the Transgender Resource Center of New Mexico and the Human Rights Committee (DDW), I actively advocate for inclusivity and support the transgender community and individuals with intellectual disabilities.
A resident of District 8, Ms. Chas L. Tso will be appointed on the Commission and serve as the at large representative replacing Ms. Kim Benallly whose term has expired; her first term will expire on October 1, 2026.
