APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF THE ATTACHED GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN AIR QUALITY MONITORING GRANT WITH THE U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY AND PROVIDING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT IN FISCAL YEAR 2023-2024. THIS GRANT WAS APPLIED FOR APRIL 4, 2022, AND THE FUNDS WERE RECEIVED JULY 1, 2022. NO GRANT FUNDS HAVE BEEN SPENT.
WHEREAS, the Environmental Health Department has a performance measure that it will protect and enhance air quality for current and future generations and thereby protect public health, economic well-being, and aesthetic values for the community, including all of (Bernalillo County); and
WHEREAS, the operation of the Environmental Health Department Air Quality Programs provides the technical means of accomplishing these goals; and
WHEREAS, Congress has provided the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency with special funding to address special projects designed to enhance public health by reducing air pollution.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1. That the attached application for the American Rescue Plan Air Monitoring Grant of $115,000 for the period of July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2024, is hereby approved, and its submission and filing with the appropriate official or office of the Environmental Protection Agency is in all respects approved.
