Concerning The Municipal Runoff Election To Be Held In The City Of Albuquerque, New Mexico, On Tuesday, The Twelfth Day Of December, 2023 (Davis, by request)

WHEREAS, a regular local election was held to elect City of Albuquerque officials on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023, at which election the offices of City Councilor for Districts 2, 4, 6, and 8 were to be filled in accordance with the City Charter; and
WHEREAS, the preliminary results of the regular local election show no candidate received at least 50% of the vote in the election of the City Councilor for District 6; and
WHEREAS, the City Charter requires a runoff election be held within forty-five days after certification of the regular local election in the event no candidate receives 50 percent of the votes cast for a particular office.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1. A municipal runoff election shall be held in the City of Albuquerque, New Mexico on Tuesday, December 12th, 2023, for those offices where no candidate received 50 percent of the votes cast for the office to be filled at the November 7, 2023 regular local election. The two candidates who received the highest number of votes cast for the office in question shall automatically become the candidates in the runoff election without further Resolution of the City Council and no filing of declarations of candidacy shall be required of such candidates.
Section 2. The runoff election shall apply only to the office of City Council District 6, in which election no did candidate received 50 percent of the vote.
Section 3. The candidates in the Council District 6 runoff election shall be Jeff Hoehn and Nichole Rogers.
