COMMISSIONING COMMEMORATIVE SERVICE PLAQUES AND DEDICATING SPACE IN CITY HALL FOR HONORING CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE CITY COUNCILORS.
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque has a rich history of dedicated service by its City Councilors, who have played a crucial role in shaping the City's development and progress; and
WHEREAS, in 1974, the City of Albuquerque adopted a form of government that established a City Council as its legislative body; and
WHEREAS, this change in government marked a significant milestone in Albuquerque's history, shifting the City's governance from a commission-manager form to a council-manager form; and
WHEREAS, the establishment of the City Council provided Albuquerque residents with a more direct voice in their City's government, allowing them to elect their representatives and hold them accountable for their decisions; and
WHEREAS, since 1974, twenty-five elections have resulted in the selection of twenty-five Council Sessions; and
WHEREAS. it is important to recognize and honor the commitment and contributions of past and present City Councilors who have tirelessly served the residents of Albuquerque; and
WHEREAS, commemorating the service of City Councilors with plaques and dedicating space in City Hall will serve as a lasting tribute to their work and inspire future generations of public servants; and
WHEREAS, such commemorative services and plaques will help preserve the history of Albuquerque's governance and allow residents to connect with the City's past leadership; and
WHEREAS, dedicating space in City Hall for this purpose will provide a prominent and accessible location for residents and visitors...
