RENAMING THE OPEN SPACE TRUST FUND IN HONOR OF ASSOCIATE CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER, FORMER CITY ATTORNEY, AND FORMER CITY COUNCILOR ROBERT "BOB" M. WHITE, JD.
WHEREAS, Associate Chief Administrative Officer and Former City
Councilor Robert "Bob" M. White, JD, has served over 40 years as an attorney and a public servant, formerly serving the City of Albuquerque as an Assistant City Attorney and then City Attorney; and
WHEREAS, Mr. White was elected to the Albuquerque City Council
in 1979 and served one term in service for Council District 6, serving as President in 1983; and
WHEREAS, Mr. White is an expert in land use, administrative, and
governmental law; and
WHEREAS, Mr. White led the charge in establishing the Open Space Trust Fund in 1982; and
WHEREAS, the Open Space Trust Fund has provided a means by which City open space areas are acquired, managed and maintained for future generations; and
WHEREAS, Mr. White has served on the boards of various
community organizations working to advance equity and the arts; and
WHEREAS, Mr. White is a graduate of the University of New Mexico
and received his J.D. from the University of Houston School of Law; and
WHEREAS, He was named the 2004 Public Lawyer of the Year by the State
Bar of New Mexico, recognized for his leadership and expertise in the areas of local government law and land use law; and
WHEREAS, Mr. White has served as a leader of state and national municipal attorney organizations; and
WHEREAS, He retired from the City of Albuquerque in 2010; and
responded to the City's call again in 2022.
