Approving And Authorizing The Application For And Use Of Grant Funds For The Carbon Pollution Reduction Grant And Authorizing An Appropriation To The General Services Department In Fiscal Year 2024 (Benton, Fiebelkorn, Davis and Peña, by request)

WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque has a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 26% from 2008 levels by 2025; and
WHEREAS, the operation of the Sustainability Office provides the technical means of accomplishing these goals; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque has the opportunity to apply for one-time funds of $999,652 to be spent over 4 years that do not require a share match.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1. That the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency in the amount of $999,652 for the period of July 30, 2023 through June 30, 2027, is hereby approved and its authorization and the appropriation of funds to the General Services Department is in all respects approved.
Section 2. That in the event that this grant is awarded, funds from United State Environmental Protection Agency in the amount of $999,652 is hereby appropriated to the General Services Department in the Operating Grants Fund (265) for Fiscal Year 2024, for the grant period 7/30/2023 to 6/30/2027.
Section 3. That funds in the amount of $0 from the transfer to Operating Grants Program of the General Fund are hereby appropriated to the General Services Department in the Operating Grants Fund (265), beginning in Fiscal Year 2024, for the grant period 7/30/2023 to 6/30/2027 as a portion of the City’s matching requirements.
