Mr. Ben Garland September 30, 2025 Albuquerque, NM 87106 Mr. Garland served as the Advocacy Chair on the Duluth Bikes Coalition Board of Directors, as well as the Sonoma County Mycological Association Board of Directors where he served as Newsletter Editor and Educational Foray Planner for the annual "SOMA Camp". He also independently advocated for design changes to street projects in Duluth, MN to make the streets more accessible and safer for people with disabilities -- two of the proposed changes were implemented in the final designs. This advocacy included illustrating the proposed changes, speaking with every business on the street, creating a petition and website to explain the proposals to other citizens, and meeting personally with the mayor of Duluth and city councilors. Lastly, he is an advocate of multi-modal transportation and although he owns a late model car here in Albuquerque, he frequently walks, bikes, and rides the bus to essential destinations (shopping, entertainment, visit friends, etc). He also commutes to work in Santa Fe via the Rail Runner + bicycle. A resident of Council District 6, Mr. Garland will fill an at-large position and will replace Ms. Patricia Salisbury whose term has expired; his first term will expire on September 30, 2025. |
