APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT FUNDS FROM U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE/NATURAL RESOURCES CONSERVATION SERVICE (NRCS) AND PROVIDING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT IN FISCAL YEAR 2023.
WHEREAS, the City has as one of its goals the improvement of community gardens and this agreement and partnership support U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)'s interest in urban agriculture and the People's Garden Initiative; and
WHEREAS, the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) program is a federal-aid cost reimbursement program that provides federal funding for programs and projects defined as the People's Garden Initiative; and
WHEREAS, U.S. Department of Agriculture/Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), is responsible for implementing the People's Garden Initiative program in New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, grant funds in the amount of $26,900 are available for this purpose for fiscal year 2023 from U.S. Department of Agriculture; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque is desirous of accepting the funds.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
SECTION 1. That the attached application for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) program grant for the People's Garden Initiative is hereby approved, and its acceptance and filing with the appropriate official or office is in all respects approved.
SECTION 2. That upon approval, funds in the amount of $26,900 are hereby appropriated to the Parks & Recreation Department for the People'...
