Appointment of Lauren Keefe to the position of City Attorney

Lauren Keefe, a graduate of Tufts University and the University of New Mexico School of Law, started her career as an editor and reporter in and around Boston, MA. She worked as a law clerk for the New Mexico Court of Appeals and Supreme Court, conducting legal researching and drafting opinions on matters pending before the Court. In 2003, she joined Peifer, Hanson & Mullins, P.A. firm as an attorney and shareholder, focusing on employment matters, contract disputes, personal injury claims, and wrongful death claims.
Ms. Keefe started Keefe Law Firm in 2019, where she represented clients on employment matters, contract disputes and administrative proceedings. Since the beginning of 2022, she has served as special counsel to the Office of the City Attorney for the City of Albuquerque, where she has represented the City in connection with the Court-Appointed Settlement Agreement, establishing terms for the operations of the Albuquerque Police Department. In her role with the City, she has also served as interim director of the Policy Division in the Office of the City Attorney. Since April 18, 2022, she has served as the Acting City Attorney and taken on the roles and responsibilities of that position. Ms. Keefe serves on the Board of Directors for the New Mexico Women’s Bar Association.
