I am submitting for your advice and consent the following name for appointment to the Personnel Board in accordance with the City of Albuquerque Ordinance 3-1-4.

Ms. Korte was elected by the permanent City of Albuquerque employees through an electronic election held November 29, through December 3, 2021 to serve as a representative of Labor on the Personnel Board. Ms. Katherine Korte is an accomplished public administrator, journalist and community servant. She lived in Albuquerque from 1993-97 and again from 2005 to present, holding numerous volunteer positions at her children's public schools and representing the West Side on the Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education from 2011-15. Her professional background includes stints at the Bernalillo County Clerk's office (2015 to 2020) where she was lead trainer for all poll officials before each primary and general election, and as a grant writer for the Bernalillo County Manager's Office (2020-present). Before that, she also worked in elections for The Associated Press, organizing the delivery of election night results for five states, including New Mexico. She also was a copy editor and Business Editor at The Albuquerque Tribune and worked as a copy editor and reporter at newspapers in Texas, Nebraska and Utah. She earned a bachelor's degree in journalism with a minor in business management from the University of Texas at El Paso and holds a master's degree in public administration from the University of New Mexico.
