APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT FUNDS BASED ON AN APPLICATION FROM THE NEW MEXICO AGING AND LONG TERM SERVICES DEPARTMENT FOR STATE ASSISTANCE FROM THE NEW MEXICO LOCAL GROWN PRODUCE GRANT FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING SENIORS WITH NUTRITIOUS MEALS FROM FOOD THAT IS GROWN IN NEW MEXICO AND PROVIDING FOR AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF SENIOR AFFAIRS IN FISCAL YEAR 2022.

                     WHEREAS, Aging and Long Term Services Department announced a grant opportunity in April 2021 that was open to New Mexico Senior Centers or Nutrition Sites that provide meals to older adults that meet all requirements specified in the Older American Act; and                     

WHEREAS, the Albuquerque Department of Senior Affairs has developed a coordinated delivery system of providing older adults with meal services that meets the needs of older adults of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County and the Older American Act; and

                     WHEREAS, the City has applied for State assistance from Aging and Long Term Services Department for funds in the amount of $74,889; and

                     WHEREAS, the Aging and Long Term Services Department has allocated funds in the amount of $74,889 to the Department of Senior Affairs to help meet the nutritional needs of older adults; and

WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque will contribute funds of $9,136 which will be used for indirect costs; and

                     WHEREAS, the total allocation for the grant is $84,026.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:

                     Section 1.  The Mayor is authorized to take all necessary and appropriate steps to enter into a grant agreement with the New Mexico Aging and Long Term Services Department for the New Mexico Local Grown Produce Grant in the amount of $74,889.

                     Section 2.  Funds in the amount of $84,026, consisting of $74,889 from the New Mexico Aging and Long Term Services Department and $9,136 of City funds from the Transfer to Operating Grants Fund Program in the General Fund (110), are hereby appropriated to the Department of Senior Affairs in the Operating Grants Fund (265) for the New Mexico Local Grown Produce Project for fiscal year 2022.

                     Section 3.  The amount of $9,136 from the Transfer of Operating Grants Program in the General Fund (110) is for indirect overhead.
