APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT FUNDS FROM THE NEW MEXICO STATE HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT AND PROVIDING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT IN FISCAL YEAR 2022.
WHEREAS, the City has as one of its goals to promote youth safety through the AMPA-Wide Youth Bicycle/Pedestrian Safety Education Program through education on multi-modal transportation and proper use of infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, the Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) is a federal-aid cost reimbursement program that provides federal funding for programs and projects defined as transportation alternatives; and
WHEREAS, The New Mexico Department of Transportation's Stewardship and Oversight agreement with the Federal Highway Administration, New Mexico Division, is responsible for implementing TAP in New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds in the amount of $110,000 are available for this purpose for fiscal year 2022 from the New Mexico Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque is desirous of accepting these funds which require a city cash match of $18,745 to support this project and is available in the General Fund Transfer to Operating Grants.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
SECTION 1. That the attached application for the Transportation Alternative Program Grant for an AMPA-Wide Youth Bicycle/Pedestrian Safety Education Program is hereby approved, and its acceptance and filing with the appropriate official or office is in all respects approved.
