Establishing A City Healthy Communities, Public Health, And Sustainability Policy Committee (Borrego)

WHEREAS, on March 11, 2020 Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham issued Executive Order 2020-004 Declaring a State of Public Health Emergency relating to the spread of COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque has issued several public health orders designed to help promote public health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, this time in the City’s history has brought light to the importance of pro-active public health policy development; and
WHEREAS, even beyond the pandemic, public health, and healthy, sustainable communities will continue to be an ongoing issue of vital importance to the City on a variety of fronts including in the areas of environmental health, land use relationships, community amenities in the form of parks and open space, city walkability, and access to safe, affordable housing, community resource use and allocation, sustainability and beyond.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
SECTION 1. The City Healthy Communities, Public Health and Sustainability Policy committee is established and shall have the following members: The President of the City Council, two additional city councilors appointed by the President, and two other persons designated by the Mayor.
SECTION 2. The committee shall consider and recommend to the Mayor and City Council policies and priorities that better promote community health, public health, and sustainability.
