Calling On The Mayor To Establish Guidelines For Businesses To Ensure Protection Of The Public's Health And Safety, Once Restrictions Related To The COVID-19 Public Health Orders Are Lifted Or Eased; And To Establish A Program To Provide Needed Equipment To Businesses To Implement The Guidelines (Pe?a)

WHEREAS, on March 11, 2020 Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham issued Executive Order 2020-004, Order Declaring a State of Public Health Emergency relating to the spread of COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, in subsequent weeks the New Mexico Department of Health has issued orders limiting public gatherings and requiring non-essential businesses to close or limit business activity; and
WHEREAS, On April 23, 2020, Governor Lujan Grisham named a 15 member Economic Recovery Council made up of business and labor leaders from across the state, and stated that the re-opening will happen in phases, beginning with the preparation phase, which is now in progress; and
WHEREAS, on April 30, 2020, Governor Lujan Grisham announced that the State will begin relaxing some restrictions on businesses in a gradual manner; and
WHEREAS, business leaders in Albuquerque have voiced concerns about being apprised of the guidelines that they will need to follow to ensure continued health and public safety and the safety of their employees, and having adequate resources to procure any needed equipment to implement the guidelines; and
WHEREAS, guidance on the proper opening of businesses in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic should include the input of city and community partner leaders, such as the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce and the Hispano Chamber of Commerce.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
