APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT FUNDS FROM THE NEW MEXICO STATE LIBRARY FOR THE BASIC STATE GRANTS IN AID AND PROVIDING FOR AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CULTURAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT IN FISCAL YEAR 2020.
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque has as one of its goals to promote the educational and cultural development of the widest possible spectrum of individuals in the community; and
WHEREAS, the Basic State Grants In Aid, if accepted, will enable the Albuquerque Public Library to fulfill this goal through New Mexico State Library to provide continued library services and supplementary popular reading materials for Albuquerque citizens; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purpose, in the amount of $89,337 have been appropriated by the New Mexico Legislature through the New Mexico State Library; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque is eligible to receive these funds for which city funds in the amount of $0 are required for indirect cost.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
SECTION 1. That the attached notice of Grant Award for a Basic State Grants In Aid from the New Mexico State Library in the amount of $89,337 is hereby approved, and its submission and filing with the appropriate official or office of the New Mexico State Library is in all respects approved.
SECTION 2. That upon approval, funds in the amount of $89,337 from the New Mexico State Library are hereby appropriated to the Cultural Services Department for the Basic State Grants In Aid in the Operating Grants Fund (265) for fiscal year 2020.
