I am submitting for your advice and consent the following name for appointment to the
Commission on American Indian and Alaska Native Affairs in accordance with the City
Albuquerque Ordinance 2-6-6-1.

Dr. Maggie George has a Ph.D. in Higher Education Policy and Leadership from the University of Kansas, a Master's in Guidance and Counseling and a Bachelor's in Elementary Education from New Mexico Highlands University. She owns and operates Indigenous Research Associates, an educational consulting firm. She serves as a leadership coach for Achieving the Dream. She served as President of Din? College located on the Navajo Nation from 2011-2016. Dr. George served as the Executive Director for the White House Initiative on Tribal Colleges and Universities in Washington, DC. Prior to that she was Deputy Director of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She served as the Director of the American Indian Program at New Mexico State University, and Director of Educational Equity and Access at the New Mexico Higher Education Department. She has served in various roles in higher education that include Dean, Academic Vice-President, Dean of the School of Education, counselor, and faculty.

Dr. George resides in Council District 7 and will serve as an At Large representative on this board replacing Mr. Ronald J. Solomon. Her first term will expire October 1, 2022.
