Pursuant to the provisions of ?9-4-1-5 of the Police Oversight Ordinance, City Council staff recommends the appointment of Mr. Lamont Davis to the Police Oversight Board.

Mr. Lamont Davis is currently a security officer for St. Martins. Mr. Davis' interest in serving on the POB comes from his interest in serving his community and bringing his understanding and experience of working with individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse issues. Mr. Davis' community activities and volunteering includes helping the less fortunate and homeless community, safe city cleaning of neighborhoods and needle disposal, and community gardening. If appointed, Mr. Lamont Davis would replace Mr. James Larson, who resigned from the Board. Mr. Davis will complete a partial term, which would expire on February 2, 2020.

Per the Ordinance, the POB composition is to consist of nine at-large members who:
"broadly represent the diversity and demographics of the City by way of, including but not limited to, cultural, gender and geographic diversity; and who are representative of the stakeholders of the police oversight process, and who reside within the City of Albuquerque." 9-4-1-5(A) ROA 1994.
