COUNCIL COMMUNICATION FOR APPROVAL

TO:                     City Councilors

FROM:                     Councilor Ken Sanchez, President

SUBJECT:

title

Nominations for Public Improvement District (PID) Board Elections

body

DATE:                     December 3, 2018

In June 2014, the City Council enacted an ordinance (City Bill No. O-14-12, Enactment No. O-2014-215, the “Ordinance”) establishing election policies and procedures for Public Improvement District (“PID”) elections.  The Ordinance permits the City Council to nominate candidates for the office of PID director.

The Boulders, Lower Petroglyphs, Saltillo, and Voltera PIDs are expected to hold candidate elections on March 5, 2019.  Five directors serve on each PID board.

By approving this Communication, the City Council authorizes Stephanie Yara, Director of Council Services, to provide a list of potential candidates to serve as directors on one or more of the above referenced PID boards to the City Clerk on or before January 4, 2019.

In order to ensure that each PID has a slate of at least five candidates for its Board of Directors, the Director of Council Services may provide the City Clerk with the names of certain City employees willing to serve as candidates.  Those employees may include, but are not limited to, individuals who have served or are currently serving as PID Board members, e.g. the City Treasurer, the City Economist, the City Comptroller, the Director of Council Services, etc.

If you are interested in serving as a PID director or would like to nominate someone to serve as a PID director, please notify Ms. Yara on or before January 1, 2019.
