Mayor's Appointment of Ms. Kara Grant to the Lodgers’ Tax Advisory Board

body

I am submitting for your advice and consent the following name for appointment to the Lodgers’

Tax Advisory Board in accordance with the City of Albuquerque Ordinance 4-4-13.

APPOINTEE NAME      TERM

Ms. Kara Grant                                                                          August 1, 2021 201 High Street NE Albuquerque, NM  87102  Ms. Grant and her husband have owned and operated the Downtown Historic Bed and Breakfast located in downtown Albuquerque for over 12 years.  Ms. Grant manages most of the operations of the business, including the bookkeeping, paying of taxes, scheduling, event planning and promotions. As a small business owner, she would bring another aspect or perspective to the board.  She is very invested and interested in all that is going on in Albuquerque and has made the bed and breakfast available to the movie industry-another aspect of bringing income to the Albuquerque area.  In fact they have hosted several movies on their property.  Ms. Grant feels that Albuquerque has many untapped opportunities to bring more revenue to the area, which is something many of her guests have openly shared with her after just a few days of enjoying our city. Having raised four children here, she has a perspective that involves looking at activities not just from an adult’s viewpoint.  Because of the diversity of all that she does in her life, Ms. Grant feels that she can bring something unique to the board.     A resident of Council District 2, Ms. Grant would serve as a Tourism Related Industry representative on the Board and her first term would expire August 1, 2021.  She would replace Ms. Deborah J. Own whose term expires August 1, 2018.
