REQUIRING CONSULTATION WITH A PLANNING GROUP COMPRISED OF PROPERTY OWNERS AND RESIDENTS WHO OWN PROPERTY OR RESIDE IN A HOUSE THAT ABUTS EITHER SIDE OF IRVING IN THAT SECTION PRIOR TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF ANY FUTURE PLANS TO WIDEN IRVING BOULEVARD WEST OF UNSER.
WHEREAS, Irving Boulevard has been constructed to its full four-lane configuration between Coors and Rio Los Pi?os Avenue and between La Paz and Country Manor Place. Between Rio Los Pi?os and Unser and from Country Manor to Ventana Ridge the roadway is partially constructed and includes two 12-foot travel lanes; and
WHEREAS, constructing Irving Boulevard to its full 86-foot cross-section between Unser and La Paz might, if not properly planned and designed, would make egress and ingress to the existing homes difficult and cause an increase in traffic and traffic speed, which would diminish residents' quality of life; and
WHEREAS, a joint effort between the City and residents along this segment is required to achieve a solution that protects the adjoining land uses and moves traffic efficiently.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1. That the priority of the City is that widening improvements to Irving Boulevard will first occur east of Unser Boulevard.
