ADOPTING THE DOWNTOWN NEIGHBORHOOD AREA (DNA) TRAFFIC STUDY (2014) AND ITS FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING NEIGHBORHOOD TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT IN THE DNA.
WHEREAS, the City Council, the governing body of the City of Albuquerque, has the authority to adopt and amend plans for the physical development of areas within the planning and platting jurisdiction of the City authorized by Statute, Section 3-19-1 et. seq., NMSA 1978, and by its home rule powers; and
      WHEREAS, the City Council adopted the Downtown Neighborhood Area (DNA) Sector Development Plan in June, 2012 through Council Bill R-11-225; and
      WHEREAS, the DNA Sector Development Plan called for a Neighborhood Transportation Study to be conducted upon the recommendations presented in the DNA Sector Plan; and
      WHEREAS, the purpose of this study was to ascertain methods and interventions where improvements to the transportation system could be implemented; and
      WHEREAS, such improvements would address the transportation goals of the DNA Sector Development Plan including: 1) The Downtown Neighborhood Area will be an exceptionally walkable neighborhood, 2) will have a coordinated roadway system that improves safety and function, 3) will have excellent access to transit services, 4) will have a comprehensive, safe and convenient bicycle network for commuter and recreational users, 5) will contain alleys that are attractive and provide alternative access to garages and safe pedestrian pathways; and
      WHEREAS, this Neighborhood Transportation Study collected information and public input and conducted analysis in support of the goals of the DNA Sector Development Plan.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
