REDISTRICTING THE NINE COUNCIL DISTRICTS IN THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
SECTION 1. FINDINGS. That the Council makes the following findings:
(A) It is appropriate to redistrict the nine City Council Districts in accordance with Article IV, Section 3, of the City Charter.
(B) Resolution No. 10-109 established a Redistricting Committee to review and make recommendations to the Council regarding redistricting the nine Council Districts.
(C) The Redistricting Committee used the 2010 Census data for the City of Albuquerque as the basis for recommending changes in Council District boundaries in a manner consistent with constitutional principles governing voting rights, population and other factors, the City Charter, state and federal statutes, and Resolution No. 10-109.
(D) The Council in formal session did review the recommendation of the Committee.
SECTION 2. COUNCIL DISTRICTS. The attached listing of Council Districts by precincts with total population by district (Attachment A) is incorporated herein as if set out in full and is hereby adopted as designating and constituting the respective areas of the nine Council Districts.
SECTION 3. CITY CHARTER. Attachment A does hereby constitute an Appendix to the City Charter in replacement of the present Appendix A to the Charter.
SECTION 4. 2013 ELECTION. That the areas established by Attachment A as the nine Council Districts are for the purposes of Municipal Elections starting with the election of October 8, 2013 and all subsequent Municipal Elections until the next redistricting; for all other purposes, the effective date for the Council Districts created by...
