APPROVING AN AGREEMENT FOR FY10 CMAQ FIXED ROUTE EXPANSION WITH THE NEW MEXICO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION (FHWA) FUNDING.
WHEREAS, Fixed Route Expansion is a project that is identified in Fiscal Year 2010 of the 2010 - 2015 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP); and
WHEREAS, the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has classified the City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County as a “maintenance area” for carbon monoxide thereby triggering the availability of Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funding for Fixed Route Expansion; and
WHEREAS, Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funding in the amount of $471,939 has been made available to the City of Albuquerque through the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) process for Fixed Route Expansion in the Albuquerque transit service area; and
WHEREAS, the above project supports the desired community condition for safe and affordable integrated transportation options associated with Goal 3 on Public Infrastructure of the City's Five-Year Goals Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to contract for these funds and City funds in the total amount of $80,424 are available for the local match from the City's annual Fiscal Year 2010 budget process.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1. That the agreement with the New Mexico State Department of Transportation for Fixed Route Expansion in the total amount of $552,363, consisting of $471,939 Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) funds and $80,...
