Relating To Capital Projects; Creating a 98TH Street and Benavidez Improvements Project In The Transportation Infrastructure Tax Fund 340 (Sanchez)

RELATING TO CAPITAL PROJECTS; CREATING A 98th STREET AND BENAVIDEZ IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT IN THE TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE TAX FUND 340.
WHEREAS, there are currently no sidewalks, paving, bike lanes or improvements of any kind at the intersection of 98th Street and Benavidez, along the west side of Truman Middle School; and
WHEREAS, this lack of improvements presents a dangerous pedestrian and bicycling environment for students walking and biking to and from school each day; and
      WHEREAS, there is sufficient unappropriated funding in the Transportation Infrastructure Tax Fund 340 to make the appropriation outlined in Section 1 below; and
WHEREAS, the development of sidewalks, curbs, gutters and a bike lane at 98th and Benavidez is in the best interest of the City of Albuquerque.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
      Section 1.  That the following appropriation of Transportation Infrastructure Tax is made in the Transportation Infrastructure Fund (340) as shown below:
      TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE FUND - 340
      DMD/Streets
            98th Street and Benavidez Improvements                  $250,000
      The scope of this project is to design, engineer, construct, install, equip or otherwise provide for curbs and gutters, sidewalks, bike lanes and related improvements at the intersection of 98th Street and Benavidez, along the west side of Truman Middle School.
