Approving and Authorizing The Filing of a Grant Application For a Food Service Program For Children With The New Mexico Department of Children, Youth and Families; Providing An Appropriation To The Department of Family and Community Services, Division of Early Childhood and Family Development (Jones)

APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A GRANT APPLICATION FOR A FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN WITH THE NEW MEXICO DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES AND PROVIDING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY AND COMMUNITY SERVICES, DIVISION OF EARLY CHILDHOOD AND FAMILY DEVELOPMENT.

      WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque is desirous of providing nutritious breakfasts, lunches and snacks to 850 economically disadvantaged children served through its child care development program; and

      WHEREAS, the State of New Mexico has made available funding to reimburse the City for the cost of such nutritious meals.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:

      Section 1.  That funds in the amount of Four Hundred Twenty Nine Thousand Eight Hundred Twenty Eight Dollars ($429,828) is hereby approved.  

      Section 2.  That the Mayor is further authorized to execute a grant agreement with the New Mexico Department of Children, Youth and Families and do all things necessary and proper to implement the program.

      Section 3.  That funds in the amount of Four Hundred Twenty Nine Thousand Eight Hundred Twenty Eight Dollars ($429,828) are hereby appropriated to the Department of Family and Community Services, for a Child Care Food Program in Operating Grants Fund (265) for Fiscal Year 2009.  

      Section 4.  That funds in the amount of Eight Thousand Seven Hundred Twenty Six Dollars ($8,726) from the General Fund, (110) are hereby appropriated to the Child Care Food Program in Operating Grants Fund (265) to cover indirect costs associated with this Grant in Fiscal Year 2009.
