ADOPTING A NEW PART IN CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 6 OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF ALBUQUERQUE, TO CREATE THE ROUTE 66 VISITORS CENTER COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, through the vision and effort of the community members from the westside of Albuquerque the Route 66 Visitors Center has transcended from a vision to becoming a community asset that serves the Albuquerque Community; and
WHEREAS, to preserve and further the vision of the community members who created the center it is necessary that community members continue to be instrumental in developing policies and goals to operate the center and address the challenges and opportunities the Route 66 Visitors Center will encounter; and
WHEREAS, to grow the Route 66 Visitors Center's potential as an integral part of the Route 66 experience stakeholders in the development and preservation of the Route 66 experience should also be instrumental in developing polices and goals for the center; and
WHEREAS, an instrument the City utilizes to preserve and foster the ability of residents and stakeholders to guide City assets is the City formation of commissions and boards.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
SECTION 1. A new Part 19 is hereby added to Chapter 2, Article 6 of the Revised Ordinances of Albuquerque, New Mexico, 1994, establishing the Route 66 Visitors Center Commission as follows:
"? 2-6-19-1 SHORT TITLE.
This Ordinance may be cited as the "Route 66 Visitors Center Commission Ordinance."
