Dr. Justin Lyell Hazen, MD, FACEP, is a board-certified emergency medicine physician with extensive experience in pre-hospital and tactical emergency medical care across New Mexico. He serves in multiple medical director roles for fire, EMS, air-medical, and law enforcement agencies, including long-standing leadership with the Albuquerque Police Department Tactical Division. Dr. Hazen is an Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico and a physician with the Veterans Affairs Hospital, where he combines clinical practice with training and system oversight. His career spans decades of emergency response, disaster medicine, and EMS system development, supported by numerous advanced certifications and operational credentials. Dr. Hazen is passionate about strengthening pre-hospital care by ensuring providers have the resources, training, and oversight needed to deliver high-quality care to the sick and injured of New Mexico.
A non-city resident, Dr. Justin L. Hazen will continue to serve as an Emergency Medical Director Representative; their second term will expire August 15, 2027.
