RESOLUTION

SUPPORTING AN APPLICATION TO THE NEW MEXICO WATER TRUST FUND BOARD FOR A GRANT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A STORMWATER POND ON JOHN STREET SOUTHWEST.
WHEREAS, the 2001 Legislature enacted the Water Project Finance Act which created the Water Project Fund in the New Mexico Finance Authority (NMFA) and charged the NMFA with the administration of the Fund and the Water Trust Board; and
WHEREAS, the Water Trust Board recommends to the Legislature projects to be funded through the Water Project Fund within five project categories, one of which is Flood Prevention; and
WHEREAS, the Water Trust Board requests, as part of the application process, adoption and submittal of a resolution of authorizing submission of an application; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque is seeking funding assistance to design and construct the John Street Ponds and Stormwater Pump Station with associated improvements; and
WHEREAS, the San Jose and South Broadway neighborhoods of Albuquerque are communities whose citizens for over two centuries have been important to the development of Albuquerque as a community but who have historically been underserved in the provision of basic infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, the John Street Stormwater Pond project is accompanied by the recent rebuild of the Marble Arno Storm Pump Station, and the planned expansion of the South Broadway Stormwater Ponds that will provide needed stormwater protection to these neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque is eligible to apply for funding from the New Mexico Water Trust Board; and
