Amending Sections 1-12-2 And 1-12-15 Of The Code Of Resolutions To Expand The Downtown 2025 Metropolitan Redevelopment Area To Include The Entire 1998 Railroad Metropolitan Redevelopment Area (Baca)

WHEREAS, the Downtown 2025 Metropolitan Redevelopment Area was established to support redevelopment efforts within its boundaries; and
WHEREAS, the Railroad Metropolitan Redevelopment Area was established to coordinate several major public and private projects to revitalize the downtown core; and
WHEREAS, consolidating these two areas under a unified Metropolitan Redevelopment Area will increase coordination and collaboration between projects, and enhance the overall impact of redevelopment efforts across Downtown Albuquerque.
WHEREAS, the amendment to the Code of Resolutions is necessary to reflect this expansion.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
SECTION 1. Section 1-12-2 of the City of Albuquerque Code of Resolutions, The Railroad Metropolitan Redevelopment Area and Plan, is amended as follows:
? 1-12-2 RAILROAD METROPOLITAN REDEVELOPMENT AREA AND PLAN.
(A) Council findings.
(1) The Council hereby finds that one or more "slum areas" or "blighted areas" (as defined in the Metropolitan Redevelopment Code) exist within the city.
(2) The Council hereby finds that the rehabilitation, conservation, development and redevelopment of and in the area proposed to be included within the Railroad Metropolitan Redevelopment Area is necessary in the best interest of the public health, safety, morals and welfare of the residents of the city.
