Mayor's re-appointment of Ms. Ramona Tafoya to the Old Town Portal Market Advisory Board

I am submitting for your advice and consent the following name for re-appointment to the

Old Town Portal Market Advisory Board in accordance with the City of Albuquerque Ordinance

13-3-2-7.

   

 

APPOINTEE NAME                                                          TERM Ms. Ramona Tafoya                                                                    June 1, 2023 Albuquerque, NM  87104  Ramona Tafoya has been an Old Town vendor since 1975. She has been very active in vendor issues and in issues relating to Old Town in general. She was president of West Old Town Neighborhood Association which made her very active in neighborhood issues and acquiring a part for the area. She was one of the vendor who helped write and establish the current vendor ordinance that the vendors currently are regulated under. She helped establish procedures and rules for vending in Old Town. She is very knowledgeable in the history of Old Town and in particular the history of vending. She is also knowledgeable in many crafts that are sold under the portal especially the history and making of jewelry. She had made jewelry since 1973. Her and her husband currently make all the jewelry they sell under the portal in Old Town. She works closely with the current portal manager and is a voice for the vendors while trying to maintain the integrity of the program. Through the tourist she deals with, she encourages visitors to visit other city facilities such as the zoo, gardens, museums and balloon fiesta. When she works, she dress with lots of jewelry to give the city of Albuquerque a good reputation A resident of Council District 2, Ms. Tafoya will continue to serve as a Vendor  Representative on the Board.
