Amending The Official List Of City Council Meetings From January 2022 Through December 2022 (Benton)

                     WHEREAS,                      Section 2-1-1 ROA 1994, specifies that, “As early as possible each calendar year, the President of the Council shall introduce a resolution specifying an official list of Regular City Council meetings for the year; the adopted list should omit dates which are holidays or on which it appears unlikely that a quorum will be available; the adopted list may schedule dates for regular meetings other than first and third Mondays, whether to replace regular meeting dates which will not be used or as otherwise seems appropriate to meet the needs of the Council. At other times when it becomes evident that the adopted list of regular meetings should be amended, this may be done by resolution; such action should be taken as soon as it becomes clear that a change is appropriate.”; and

                     WHEREAS, Article 1, Section 1 of the Council’s Rules of Procedure contains parallel provisions; and

                     WHEREAS, Resolution No. R-21-197, which set the dates for Council meetings through December 2022, was passed by the Council on October 4, 2021; and

                     WHEREAS, R-21-197 set the first meeting in 2022 on January 19^th in order to avoid pre-meeting conflicts associated with the New Year Holiday, and to accommodate swearing-in and on-boarding of new Councilors; and

                     WHEREAS, the addition of an earlier meeting in January may be prudent to ensure that City Council business proceeds in a timely manner; and

                     WHEREAS, Monday, January 10^th is available for a meeting of the Council and would require only that the Finance and Government Operations Committee meet on the “as needed” date of January 24^th instead of January 10^th.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:

                     R-21-197, the official list of City Council regular meeting dates from January 2022 through December 2022, is amended to add January 10, 2022, to list of dates for regular meetings of the City Council already prescribed therein.
