body

I am submitting for your advice and consent the following name for re-appointment to the

Landmarks and Urban Conservation Commission in accordance with the City of Albuquerque

Ordinance 14-12-5.

APPOINTEE NAME                                                                           TERM Mr. Robert Bello                                                                                        April 01, 2022 1424 Roma Avenue NW Albuquerque, NM 87104

Robert Bello is a historian and educator who has taught at both the University of New Mexico and the Central New Mexico Community College system and at Elmhurst College in Illinois. Bello is a homeowner and resident of the Fourth Ward Historic Overlay Zone in downtown Albuquerque where he has lived for almost twenty years. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, he has had a lifelong interest in architecture and the creation and use of urban spaces. He chose to live in the downtown Albuquerque area because he feels it is the most historically significant and architecturally dynamic area of the city. Bello is particularly interested in efforts to achieve the ideal balance between the preservation of historic architectural landmarks and the needs for infill and new construction. To this end, he has dedicated himself to community service. Bello served on the Downtown Neighborhoods Association Board of Directors for over ten years. During this time he headed the association's zoning committee. He also participated in the formulation and drafting of the Downtown Neighborhoods Sector Development Plan (SDP) which was ultimately adopted by the City of Albuquerque. Most recently Bello had the privilege of serving on the Landmarks Commission and is seeking reappointment for another term.   A resident of Council District 2, Mr. Bello will continue to serve in a Historic Zone Property Owner position on the Commission and his second term will expire April 1, 2022.
