Mayor's Re-appointment of Ms. Dubra F. Karnes-Padilla to the Senior Affairs Advisory Council

I am submitting for your advice and consent the following name for re-appointment to the Senior

Affairs Advisory Council in accordance with a Joint Powers Agreement between the City of

Albuquerque, County of Bernalillo, Village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque and the Village of

Tijeras.

Ms. Dubra F. Karnes-Padilla                                                        September 30, 2024 Albuquerque, NM 87114  Ms. Karnes-Padilla is a retired member from UNM Valencia Campus. From 2000-2012, she managed the Fitness and Wellness Education Center. She initiated the idea from a campus wellness center in 1995 and assisted in the facility design and programming beginning in 1998. She helped develop 38 acres into a multigenerational recreation center (Eagle Park) for the City of Belen, collaborated on establishing the Whitfield Bird Refuge in Valencia County, and the City of Belen Community Garden, She currently teaches an exercise class, “Aging Well,” which she developed for the Santa Ana Pueblo, Tamaya Wellness Center. The skill sets she has to offer to the Senior Affairs Advisory Council are the following: A holistic view of how to create a resilient community for seniors and their particular needs; organization skills to strategically asses, plan, and evaluate what is needed to assist our seniors; and, a passion to make our community a better place for all.    A resident of Council District 5, Ms. Karnes-Padilla will continue to serve as a City representative on the Council.
