Per § 2-6-11-3 (A), “The Board shall consist of five members as follows: one member with experience or financial expertise in crime prevention and intervention appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council, one member with experience or financial expertise in law enforcement appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council, one member with experience or financial expertise in emergency medical services appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council, and two at-large members appointed by the City Council.”

 

The Public Safety Tax Advisory Board is charged with providing recommendations to the Mayor and City Council by January 1 for the proposed use of Public Safety Tax revenues for the upcoming fiscal year.

 

This OC seeks to appoint the following individual to one of the two open City Council positions on the board.

 

                     Mr. Robert Martinez

 

Mr. Robert Martinez was appointed by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham to serve on the New Mexico Public Safety Advisory Commission in 2020. He served as the president of the Fraternal Order of Police Albuquerque Lodge #1 for 12 years, and is currently the union’s vice president. Mr. Martinez also served as the Fraternal Order of Police New Mexico president for 10 years, and is a past member of the United States Civil Rights Commission New Mexico Advisory Committee. These are just a few highlights from a long and distinguished career in public safety in New Mexico; Mr. Martinez’s full resume is attached.

 

If appointed, his first term will expire 10/12/2025, and the composition of the Board will be as follows:
