I am submitting for your advice and consent the following name for reappointment to the Personnel Board in accordance with the City of Albuquerque Ordinance 3-1-4.

Ms. Sonja Y. Brown September 1, 2026 Albuquerque, NM 87106 Sonja Brown is a retired healthcare administrator serving the federal government for 35 years prior to retiring October 31, 2023. Ms. Brown held the position of Associate Director, second in command of the New Mexico VA Health Care System. In this role, she was responsible for the oversight of a $500+ million-dollar budget and administrative services to include Financial Management, Human Resources, Engineering, Health Administration Service, etc. She worked with the Executive Leadership Team to ensure that Veterans received quality care, and employees had the tools needed to serve them. Ms. Brown served as a mentor to employees at all levels of the healthcare system and was well respected throughout the healthcare system as a leader with empathy and compassion for employees. She also made decisions on disciplinary actions as needed. During her tenure, Ms. Brown served as both the Acting and Interim Director on many occasions. A resident of Council District 6, Ms. Brown will continue to serve as a Management representative on the board. Her second term will expire on September 1, 2026. |
