Lease Agreement for Agricultural use of a portion of Major Public Open Space between the City of Albuquerque and Rasband Dairy Inc. known as Los Poblanos Fields

The City has a fee simple interest in and manages that certain “Major Public Open Space” known as Los Poblanos Fields. The City’s mission in managing the Property is to maintain, protect and preserve the land as agricultural Open Space and wildlife habitat, thereby providing recreational and educational opportunities to the community with the least impact to the environment. The City desires to promote regenerative farming and wildlife cropping practices and/or habitat production on the Property.
The proposed Lease Agreement for the initial term is five (5) years with the option to extend the Lease for one (1) additional term of five (5) years, if tenant is in compliance with the lease and properly exercised. The proposed annual fee is for three-hundred dollars ($300.00) per acre at approximately ten (57) acres. The Leased area is therefore $17,100.00 Annual Fee divided by twelve (12) equal, monthly payment of $1,425.00 monthly fee. In lieu of making monthly monetary payments in the amount of the $1,425.00, Lessee shall be responsible for providing general care and upkeep for Leased Area.
The Lease Agreement is forwarded to City Council for approval.
