Ciara Martin-Stiles is a 16-year-old junior at Albuquerque High School who is eager to serve on the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Board and represent the voices of young people in her city. She has played club volleyball for four years, where she developed discipline, teamwork, and commitment, and for the past three years has mentored younger players as a “big sister” at her club. Ciara has also gained strong work and communication skills through her job at Dion’s Pizza and her volunteer work at a local concert venue supporting her team. Academically, she has shown resilience and determination, overcoming challenges after being diagnosed with dyslexia just before the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted her learning. Through self-advocacy and hard work, she built strong study habits and now earns A’s and B’s in her classes. Outside of school, she enjoys art, physics, sports, and politics, and is passionate about working with animals and children. Her experience as a babysitter and pet sitter has strengthened her sense of responsibility and care for others. |
