Mr. Hedges is a lifelong golfer and enthusiastic player of Albuquerque’s public courses. He has experience working with high school golf programs while utilizing the city’s public courses. He has been a professional educator for 40 years, and has substantial experience with private and public boards and committees. Mr. Hedges grew up in Albuquerque, and attend Rio Grande High School and the University of New Mexico. His career has taken him to assignments in California, Virginia, and Oklahoma, where he was involved significantly in golf and golf programs. While supporting his son’s golf interest, he was active with Junior PGA and First Tee, high school and college golf programs. He has served on committees and as a volunteer Marshall in several professional and amateur golf tournaments including the US Open and the PGA Championship. He has also directed a number of charity golf tournaments for schools and organizations. Now he is retired and settled in Albuquerque, and has time and desire to help develop our city golf program. A resident of Council District 8, Mr. Hedges will fill a vacancy on the Board and will serve as the Arroyo del Oso Men's representative. His first term will expire December 31, 2022.
